I’ve been shooting weddings since 2009, before that I was a studio based portrait and commercial photographer after completing my BA (Hons) Photography Degree (although that taught me pretty much nothing about what I do today….)

Relaxed in my approach, I prefer a more documentary style mixed with some ‘Hero’ off camera flash portraits too. I’m a big fan of punchy colour and heavily contrasty mono. I’m always on the look out for tiny moments, roars of laughter and high energy partying. Canon for weddings, Fuji for play, but try not to judge me on that.

I live in South Manchester with my wife Anna, my baba bear Arthur and cockapoo Harper.

I’ve always had a soft spot for photography and felt drawn towards it. As a kid, I used to dig up my grandmother’s shoe box full of old photographs. I would stare for hours at photos of people and relatives I never met, trying to build a story around them. What were they like? How was their life? Where would they spend their time? With whom?

This curiosity made me realise I have a passion for people and their stories. I had photography as a hobby for 10 years, doing mostly portraits and street photography. When I started my work as a full time wedding photographer one year ago, I knew exactly what I wanted: to capture comprehensive life stories that will be meaningful over years to come.

My style is real and informal, being mostly attracted by smiles, laughter, tears of happiness or just quirky ways of expressing emotions.

I started off as an artist drawing and painting in my early college years. I was teaching art in a sanitarium for older adults as well as other art classes to the public, watercolors, drawing, acrylic painting and such. I got permission to photograph many people whilst I was working there.  I taught and photographed them for 6 years while I finished my BFA in media and multimedia with an emphasis on interactive art.

I then perused a career in graphic and web design.  A bride who was doing web searches found my photography work of the older people in the sanitarium in 2002.  She asked me to photograph her wedding and wouldn’t take no for an answer.  That single wedding led to 6 the following year year.

Today I teach digital photography and shoot around 12 weddings each year.  My approach is to watch and listen, you can “see” with your ears too.  I love that “on switch” that lasts the whole wedding day, dealing with the challenges as they come along.  I am always on the lookout for those “moments.” I love to document but I also enjoy the artistic approach to portraits.
